Orthodox Christian worship in Lampeter, S. Wales.

(Updated Christmas 2007.)

Lampeter is a small country town, to the north of Carmarthen. The University of Wales, Lampeter, has appointed an Orthodox lecturer in their department of Theology and Religious Studies. Dr. Andreas Andreopoulos will be developing a Centre for Orthodox Studies within the University at Lampeter. Courses have begun for the degree of Master of Theology in Orthodox studies. To begin with, Dr. Andreas Andreopoulos invited Orthodox priests to visit Lampeter to celebrate Orthodox services in St. David’s Chapel within the University of Lampeter. A small community is developing, with people asking for instruction in the Orthodox faith. The latest development is the ordination of a priest for Lampeter and mid Wales. This is Father Timothy who will take services in Lampeter as well as other towns.

At present there is a service every Sunday morning (using a church in the town) as well as some services at the University.
